Bridge over the River Júcar

Bridge over the River Júcar

A historic bridge with a concrete arch, original cobblestones and metal railings, ideal for admiring 20th-century engineering.
The bridge designed by Lucio del Valle was opened to traffic in 1851, but was destroyed by a flood four years later. A wooden structure was then built, which remained in use until the road was incorporated into the National Network of Special Pavements. In 1932, a reinforced concrete arch bridge came into service, designed on the basis of the models in the collection produced by José Eugenio Ribera and approved in 1923. It remains in good condition and still retains the cobblestone decking and some of the metal posts of the side railings.
